Effect of Different Antiseptic Mouthwashes on Resin-Based CAD/CAM Blocks
Objectives: Objectives: This research investigates the effects of mouthwashes with different formulations on the surface roughness and color stability of resin-based CAD/CAM blocks. Methods: Materials and Procedures: 96 samples (n=16) were prepared using two distinct resin-based CAD-CAM blocks (Lava Ultimate; Lava, Cerasmart; GC Cerec). Three antimicrobial mouthwashes were applied to the samples: Tanflex (Abdi Ibrahim), Glimo Care (Haltron), and Kloroben (Drogsan). Before and after using mouthwash, the samples' color (VITA Easyshade V) and surface roughness (Mitutoyo SJ-301R profilometer-Ra) were assessed. IBM SPSS was used to conduct statistical analysis (version 29.0.0.0). Using one-way ANOVA, Kruskal-Wallis, and Post-hoc Tukey testing, the Ra and ΔE00 values obtained following mouthwash application (p<0.05) were examined. Results: Results: The Lava and GC Cerec groups' initial and post-gargle Ra values were comparable. Ra readings in the Lava group were statistically lower in the Glimo group than in the Tanflex group (p=0.016). The Glimo group's Ra values were statistically higher than those of the Andorex group in the GC Cerec group (p=0.001). Both the Andorex and Tanflex groups showed statistically comparable Ra values for every CAD/CAM block. GC Cerec's Ra values were statistically greater than the Lava's when comparing the Ra values of the Glimo-applied composites (p<0.001). In every CAD/CAM group, the Ra levels obtained following Andorex and Tanflex applications were comparable. The Andorex group's ΔE00 values in Lava and GC Cerec were significantly different from the Glimo and Tanflex groups' values. The ΔE00 of the Tanflex and Glimo groups did not differ significantly. Conclusions: Conclusion: Mouthwashes influenced the surface roughness and color stability of resin-based CAD/CAM blocks. The observed differences may be attributed to the compositional variations of the CAD/CAM materials and the chemical properties of the mouthwashes.
