Evaluation of 3D Printing Resin Incorporated by TiO2 Nanotubes
Objectives: The purpose of this in vitro study was to evaluate the influence of incorporating TiO2 (titanium dioxide) nanotubes and varying the light exposure time per layer on the physical-mechanical properties of the resin for 3D printing (Cosmos TEMP resin). Methods: Sixty circular specimens (10mm x 2mm) of the resin were printed and divided into 6 groups (n=10), with the following variation factors: light exposure time per layer (10s, 15s and 20s) and TiO2 nanotubes (control, no nanotubes; added TiO2 nanotubes). The response variables were Vickers microhardness, surface roughness and color stability (ΔE00). The results were analyzed by two-way ANOVA and Tukey (p≤0.05). Results: The Vickers microhardness showed differences for the light exposure time per layer (p= 0.000) and for the interaction between the presence of nanotubes and the light exposure time per layer (p= 0.000), the highest values were found in the groups exposed to the longest light time. For roughness, differences were found only for the interaction between the presence of nanotubes and light exposure time per layer (p= 0.000), the highest values were found in the groups exposed to the longest light time and the nanotubes were only significant in the groups exposed to the shortest light time. For ΔE00, significant changes were observed for the interaction between nanotubes and light exposure time per layer (p= 0.000). Conclusions: The incorporation of TiO2 nanotubes into the impression resin led to an increase in microhardness, no increase in roughness, but there was a reduction in color stability. The longer light exposure time per layer increased the microhardness and color stability.
