Microleakage of Self-Etching Adhesive in Clases v With Er,Cr:YSGG Laser.

Objectives: To evaluate and compare the marginal microleakage applying a new self-etching adhesive system (self-etching) in class V cavities prepared with conventional treatment and Er,Cr:YSGG laser.
Methods:
Twenty-three molars were used in which 5x3x1,5 class V preparations were randomly made with a total of 46 cavities and a total of 92 samples. In group 1 prepared with a conventional turbine, group 2 and 3 with laser of 2.780 nm (Er,Cr:YSGG) at 200mJ and 51.2 J/cm2 of fluence . In group 2, acid etching was applied on the enamel surface while no acid etching was applied in group 3.
A new self-etch adhesive was applied and cavity was filled with a thin layer of a flowable hybrid composite and filled with an microhybrid composite.
The samples were submerged in 0.5% basic fucsine for 24 hours, then the samples were evaluated under a stereomicroscope. The microleakage was evaluated (on enamel and dentin) following a standardized numeration.
Results:
No significant differences between groups 1 and 2 in enamel and dentin. Groups 1 and 3 in enamel and dentin show significant difference among them, microleakage was lower in group 1. There was also a statistically significant difference between groups 2 and 3, both in enamel and dentin, with less marginal microleakage in group 2.
Conclusions: Under the conditions of this study, and according to the data obtained, it can be concluded that; Marginal microleakage in type V cavities prepared with an Er,Cr:YSGG laser and with acid etching on enamel compared to those prepared with a turbine and conventional burs do not present significant differences in enamel or dentin. The removal of particles not adhered to the surface of enamel and dentin together with acid etching of enamel in cavities prepared with the Er,Cr:YSGG laser significantly reduces microleakage in both enamel and dentin.
