Recent Stages of the O-Health Edu Project: the Deployment of a Data-hub

Objectives: The collaborative project funded by the European Union, O-Health-Edu, through the Erasmus + program is led by a consortium of nine universities, associated with the European Association for Dental Education (ADEE). This 3-year project aims to analyse the current situation regarding the formation of oral health professionals and to identify educational priorities to ensure that the skills of future oral health graduates are in line with the emerging oral health needs of the population.
This presentation reports on the findings of the recent stages of the project: the deployment of a data-hub aimed to collect and maintain a database to present public information about how OHP education is delivered in Higher Education Institutions across Europe.
Methods: From October 2019 to June 2020, the 12 dental education experts from the consortium developed an original questionnaire, allowing the data collection on school general information, OHP primary degree programme (dental and hygienist), curriculum, facilities and quality assurance methods. The group set up a dedicated related data-hub to collect and present data in an accessible way. An online glossary was also developed (in English), for the terms specifically related to OHPs education used in the questionnaire.
Results: The dedicated data-hub is functional and accessible by visiting https://o-health-edu.org/ohe-datahub-directory. Registration for data entry is possible by visiting https://o-health-edu.org/user/register. Institutions providing formation for oral health professionals can fill in the 80 elements related to their institution and formation. The integrated-glossary of 171 terms “ARTICULATE” allows a common understanding of the elements sought. This comprehensive data hub is build to be updated in real-time to ensure long-term accuracy and relevance.
Conclusions: The O-Health-Edu taskforce has put in place a process for collecting robust pan-European data regarding OHP education, including a glossary to provide consensus regarding terms used in this context.
