Bonding of Y-TZP Zirconia to Different Core Materials Using GIC
Objectives: The aim of this study was to evaluate bond strength of Y-TZP zirconia to different substrates used as core materials for full crown restorations, luted with glass ionomer cements. Methods: 400 zirconia Y-TZP specimens (Vita In-Ceram YZ – Wilcos) with cylindrical shape and 2.16mm diameter were prepared. The surface to be bonded was sandblasted with aluminium oxide. For core simulation five different subtracts were used: LS-lithium disilicate, CA-copper/aluminium alloy, SA-silver/tin alloy, NA-nickel/chrome alloy and HD-human dentin. Cementation were performed with standardized pressure and time (100g, 5min) usingfive different GIC cements: MC- Meron Capsule (Voco) – regular GIC (glass ionomer cement), RC- Riva CEM (SDI) – RMGIC (resin modified glass ionomer cement), FC- FujiCEM 2 (GC) – RMGIC, KC- KetacCem Plus (3M/Espe) – RMGICandMP- MeronPlus QM (Voco) – RMGIC. Shear bond strength test were performedby auniversal testing machine (EMIC - DL 200MF). The data was analysed by two-way ANOVA and Tukeys test. Results: ANOVA showed significant differences for the type of core material (p=0.001) and type of cement (p=0.001). The results for the core materials were: LD-0.998a, CA-2.487b, SA-2.544b, NA-3.355bc, HD-4.454c. The results for the type of cement were: KC-1.150a, MP-1.870a, RC-1.925a, FC-4.440b, MC-4.453b. Conclusions: The bond strength to lithium disilicate showed the smallest value, while to metal alloys intermediate and to the dentin the highest. Meron Capsule and FujiCem showed the highest bond strength.
