In vitro Study of the Artificial Plaque Removal Effect by Novel Brush Platform (Afsar Oral Care)

Objectives: This clinical investigation was conducted to evaluate efficacy of artificial plaque removal by three different platforms for bushing system including: One-month piece, Afsar Oral Care and regular power tooth brush. The One-month piece brush simultaneously cleans multiple teeth. It does so, through a design which includes a mouth insert which goes into the mouth of the user. Additionally, a plurality of cleaning structures can either attach to or be integrally formed to the mouth insert as a coupling element attached to the mouth insert or drive device. Afsar Oral Care is a magnetically controlled abrasive system (MCAS) having a magnetic system to manipulate a magnetically controlled and cleaning teeth.
Methods: This study was a randomized, examiner-blind experiment. It specifically examined artificial plaque removal by three toothbrush platforms: a) One-month piece b) Afsar Oral Care with the novel design and brush balls, and c)X-Arm Robot equipped with Philips Diamond Care, following two repeated single-use. Dentures were randomly subjected to an operator and 24 photos were captured following the standard protocol for all dentures. All photos were subjected to ImageJ to measure the surface area of artificial plaque after brushing.
Results: Artificial plaque removal effects had greater efficacy in group C than those of experimental group and the control group for both anterior and posterior areas (p<0.05). By brushing with horizontal or vertical movement.
Conclusions: One-month piece was not effective for plaque removal in vitro experiment and not recommended to use for cleansing the tooth surface.
