Evaluation CBCT Accuracy In-vitro Using Different Radiological Devices

Objectives: This study aimed to evaluate accuracy and error of dental implant CBCT-images comparing different types of devices in-vitro.
Methods: Thirteen 11.5 mm long osteotomies were created using a verification jig on a radiographically visible block. The block was scanned using four different CBCT devices from well-known manufacturers, such as iCat Vision, Instrumentarium OP 300, Kodak CareStream 9000 and Sirona at the recommended manufacturer’s exposure settings. Each scan obtained from these four different devices was analyzed using Infinitt software. The length of thirteen osteotomies were measured by a calibrated oral maxillofacial radiologist. Mean values were recorded and compared for statistical significance using repeated ANOVA. Significant difference level was set at p<0.05.
Results: The data showed that there is no statistically significant difference (p>0.05) among four different CBCT devices for osteotomy length measurements (see Table)
Conclusions: Acceptable length measurement accuracy was shown in all CBCT images, regardless of tested CBCT devices.
