In vivo Evaluation Result for Super Quick Setting Polyether Impression Material

Objectives: To collect clinician feedback and satisfaction rating via in-vivo evaluation of a new delivery method for 3M™ Impregum™ Super Quick tray material and a new ultra-light body viscosity.
Methods: The data was collected using a web-based survey after an evaluation period of 4-6 weeks. Materials tested: 3M™ Impregum™ Super Quick Medium Body (ISQMB) and 3M™ Impregum™ Super Quick Ultra-Light Body (ISQULB). Participants were asked to use the ISQ materials in their clinical routine (one-step, sumultaneous two-viscosity impression technique) and to rate different performance criteria. Sample Size: 49 dentists from the U.S. had been pre-selected to take part in this evaluation. Field dates: testing period was from June-July 2019. Quantitative responses for various features and characteristics of ISQMB and ISQULB were analyzed using descriptive statistics (Minitab19, Minitab Inc., USA).
Results: 39 dentists participated by completing the questionnaire and 932 total impressions were taken. The responses were quantified on 4-level even-point-scales (coding: strongly agree=1; agree=2; disagree=3; strongly disagree=4) except extrusion force response used a bilateral five-point scale (coding: significantly too great = 1; a little too great = 2; just perfect = 3; a little too low = 4; significantly too low = 5). Responses summarized in Table 1 after descriptive statistical analysis performed:

Respondents provided feedback regarding overall satisfaction. 82% of respondents were very satisfied or quite satisfied with the ISQ MB and ISQ ULB materials and 100% were very or quite satisfied with the precision of fit of the final restoration. 82% would recommend the materials to their colleagues.
Conclusions: ISQ materials received high satisfaction feedback from dentists surveyed. All the characteristics referenced previously had over 90% “strongly agree” or “agree” responses. Furthermore, the tray material’s usage in a dual arch tray and adequate working time were highest rated. Most respondents also rated the extrusion force of the new cartridge delivery for ISQ MB as “just perfect.”
