One-year Follow-up of a Ridge Preservation Non-inferiority RCT
Objectives: The aim of the present was to compare the vestibular ridge contour changes of dental implants placed on sites previously treated with ARP with either DBBM-C or DBBM 1-year after crown placement Methods: Patients with a dental implant placed on sites previously treated with ARP with either DBBM-C or DBBM were evaluated. Silicon impressions and dental casts were obtained at crown installation and after 1-year of follow-up. Casts were digitalized and STL’s were superimposed and matched for analysis. Sagittal images at the long axis of the implants were obtained. Measures of the ridge thickness were made at 1mm (eTT1mm), 3mm (eTT3mm) and 5mm (eTT5mm) below the top of the crest. After normality tests were performed, Student’s t-tests were made for group comparisons Results: Fifty-nine participants completed the 1-year follow-up and were analyzed in this study. There were no statistical differences on thickness measurements at eTT1mm (DBBM 0.26mm ±0.18 vs DBBM-C 0.2 ±0.2), eTT3mm (DBBM -0.08 ±0.12 vs DBBM-C 0.24 ± 0.33) and eTT5mm (DBBM 0.04 ± 0.07 vs DBBM-C 0.28 ± 0.22) respectively Conclusions: Buccal soft tissue linear dimensions of dental implants sites previously treated with ridge preservation techniques with either DBBM or DBBM-C showed stability between crown insertion and 1-year of follow-up without differences between groups
