Method: Twenty specimens were fabricated for each material (M-Multilik, Ivoclar Vivadent; RX-RelyX ARC, 3M Espe; AC-AllCem, FGM; R100-RelyX U100, 3M Espe, SC-SpeedCEM, Ivoclar Vivadent). For the DCS, disc shaped (4 mm x 2 mm) specimens (n=10) were placed with their long axes perpendicular to the applied compressive load at a crosshead speed of 0.5 mm/min. The UCS was measured following ANSI/ADA 27 specification using cylindrical shaped (4 mm x 6 mm) specimens (n=10) tested at a crosshead speed of 0.5 mm/min. Strength values (MPa) were calculated and statistically analyzed by ANOVA and Tukey tests (α=0.05).
Result: The statistical analysis showed the following results of DSC (MPa mean values ± SD): RX (59.04 ± 4.62) > M (39.59 ± 6.32) = AC (44.65 ± 7.4) = R100 (41.09 ± 4.58) = SC (40.28 ± 3.85), and of UCS (MPa mean values ± SD): AC (313.51 ± 40.51) = RX (304.92 ± 22.77) > R100 (219.87 ± 24.21) = M (205.78 ± 32.45) = SC (191.52 ± 15.61).
Conclusion: We conclude that different resin cements vary considerably with respect to the parameters studied and cannot be classified as a homogeneous group of materials.
