Knowledge of Biosecurity and Risk Factors of university students

Objective:  To identify and evaluate the presence of risk factors in university students. Identify practices in tobacco and alcohol prevention campaigns to generate students in college

Method:  The methodology was based on a descriptive study, which seeks to determine the presence or absence of triggering risk factors of chronic diseases. The student population consisted of trainees of 1 to 5 th year of the race of Dentistry, Faculty of Medicine and Health Sciences of the IAU. We conducted a voluntary anonymous survey conducted in the university

Result: 100 surveys were obtained by students from different years. 19% of the students recognized use all the protective barriers (cap, goggles, mask, gloves, AMBO) named. While 81% used a smaller number, most do not use cap and some do not use glasses.
Regarding the Hepatitis B vaccination, 97% say habérsela applied. Of which 7.68% is applied dose, the two doses 22.08%, and 62.4% the corresponding three. On the other hand the remaining 3% do not have this shot.
Regarding HIV, 46% of students performed the respective analysis. In contrast to this, the remaining 54% has not ever done an analysis The results were 46% of students do not drink alcohol and 54% of them do. As to snuff, 75% of students do not smoke.

Conclusion:

The degree of knowledge of students about biosecurity barriers is admissible, no significant differences with respect to most respondents. In terms of vaccination required to reduce the risk of infectious diseases in dental practice include lack of awareness and responsibility of college students. Because of this, many students do not have the necessary doses Hepatitis B, or have an HIV test.

Most of the students used alcohol and tobacco as a means of distraction or social integration, but they ignore the long-term consequences and how these factors are multipliers of equal or greater importance.
