Candida spp in patients with oral piercing

Objective: To study the adherence of Candida spp in rings bucales.Evaluar oligodynamic effect of the rings

Method: The yeast species were identified in chromogenic medium, Api, ID 32 C (â BioMérieux, France), growth at 45 °, half Chrom - Pal and Fumouze â Bichro-Dubai (Fumouze Diagnostics, France) and DNA amplification by PCR with initiators or "primers" specific molecular level to differentiate C. dubliniensis.

Result: The results of the survey showed that: 32% male and 68% women The age of patients was 16 + - 3. The reasons for its use were aesthetic.Metal rings have not carriage of yeasts, however, appear to exert inhibitory effect. The acrylic or plastic rings increase the carriage of yeasts. With the presence of C. albicans, C. parapsilosis, C. tropicalis, C. guilliermondii, C. glabrata and C. sake, both in the ring as mucosal carrillos.La palate and tongue carriage is higher.

Conclusion: Yeasts grown in plastic piercing tongue, lips and cheeks. These species could spread from this new niche
