Method: For the analysis we used CBCT and dental casts. The sample was composed by 25 patients of both genders, divided into 2 groups: GI (n = 13) subjects treated with self-ligating bracket EasyClip (ADITEK) with mean age of 18.58 years, and GII (n = 12) treated subjects with convencional bracket (Abzil UNITEK-3M) with a mean age of 21.61. For this study, we used the sequence of wire recommended by the manufacturer (Easy-Clip), 0013" Niti, 0014" Niti and 0016" Niti, changed each two months. About 6 months after start of treatment (T2) was made a new orthodontic documentation with CBCT and dental casts. The consecutive measurements on dental casts were made using a digital caliper (Mitutoyo) in T1 and T2, involving interfirst premolars, intersecond premolars and intermolars width. For the CBCT were measured the distances from the WALA ridge to the tip of the cuspid of first premolars, second premolars and first molars, in both treatment times.
Results: Thus, by measuring the dental casts, there was a significant dental expansion for both groups. There was no statistically significant difference between the group treated with self-ligating or conventional. For measurements of CBCT observed a significant decrease in labial plate, and there was no significant expansion of the statistical point of view. Comparing the two groups did not differ significantly.
Conclusion: Both devices respond similarly to orthodontic treatment.
