Iralvex herbal gel and lidocain gel in recurrent aphthous stomatitis

objectives:The aim of this study was to compare the effects of Iralvex herbal gel(contain of Rhubard and salicylic acid) and lidocain gel in treatment of recurrent aphthous ulcers.

Methods:in this double-blind clinical trial study,46 patients with RAS fulfilling our inclusion criteria and referred to Qazvin school of dentistry,were randomly given drug A(lidocain gel 2%) or drug B(Iralvex herbal gel)(each group 23 patients).Drugs were topically applied on ulcers by the patients, 3 times a day and 30 minutes after regular meals.The size and healing time of lesions,presence of pain or burning sensation(VAS score)were recorded before the treatment and also 10 minutes,8 hours,4 days after the treatment.

Results:patients,were divided to the similar groups(23patients in each).No statistical significant difference was found in the reduction of pain or burning sensation (p=0.800),size of lesions(p=0.880)and healing time (p=0.900) between the treatment groups.

Conclusions:Iralvex herbal gel and lidocain gel had the same efficacy in treatment of RAS.
