"Methods:" To determine the test-retest reliability, 200 children from primary schools in Esfahan aged 8 to12 years completed the Persian version of MCDAS(f) on two separate instances 4 weeks apart. To determine the validity, they completed the MCDAS(f) and the CFSS-DS at the same sitting. The data were entered to SPSS and subjected to intraclass correlation coefficient, Cronbach's alpha and Pearson correlation coefficient.
"Results:"The MCDAS(f) demonstrated good test-retest reliability (intraclass correlation coefficient = 0.82) and internal consistency (Cronbach's alpha = 0.85). The MCDAS(f) significantly correlated with the CFSS-DS (r = 0.73, P < 0.001). The mean MCDAS(f) score was 17.7 with a range of scores from 8 to 40. The mean overall score for the CFSS-DS was 28.95 with a range of scores from 15 to72. "Conclusion:"The Persian version of MCDAS(f) appears to be reliable and valid in measuring dental anxiety in children aged 8-12 years.
