Interdisciplinary treatment of severe anterior openbite: A case report
OBJECTIVE: The aim of this case report is to investigate the results of an interdisciplinary treatment in an adult female patient who presented a severe anterior openbite. METHODS: A 20-year-3 months old female patient who presented anterior openbite and Class II subdivision relationship was treated with interdisciplinary (orthodontics and orthognathic surgery) treatment approach. A 5 mm maxillary posterior impaction and 5 mm mandibular counter clockwise rotation and advancement were performed. No additional surgery was planned for the chin. RESULTS: After the bimaxillary surgery, the soft tissue profile and sagittal relationships were improved, the anterior openbite was corrected and Class I relationship was achieved. CONCLUSIONS: The function and esthetics were achieved successfully with interdisciplinary collaboration in severe anterior openbite deformity.
