The primary Characterization of TEGDMA Nanocapsules used in self-repairing resin
Objective: The self-repairing nanocapsules provided a new direction for improving the durability of adhesive resin. Preparation of TEGDMA nanocapsule and its technical parameters were primaryly investigated. Methods: The encapsulation of TEGDMA in polyurethane nanocapsules by interfacial polycondensation in miniemulsion of isophorone diisocyanate(IPDI) and 1,6-hexanediol had been studied. The physical and chemical properties were investigated by (TEM), Fourier-transform infrared spectrometer (FTIR), laser diffraction particle size analyzer, and high performance liquid chromatography (HPLC). Results: TEM results confirmed that nanocapsules were especially spherical with the size about 200-300nm. FTIR results confirmed that the shell material was polyurethane. The average particle size and the average PDI of polyurethane nanocapsules containing TEGDMA were (259.5±1.91) nm, (0.118±0.02)nm. The average drug loading(DL%) and the average encapsulation efficiency(EE%) were (47.72±2.23)%, (90.5±2.21)%, respectively. Conclusion: Polyurethane nanocapsules containing TEGDMA were formulated in miniemulsion by interfacial polycondensation. It built the solid foundation for the application to the self-repairing bonding resin. This research supported by NSFC China 30672346.
