Expression of Mitochondrial Enzyme factor in Mouse Masseter Muscle

Objective: During development of masseter muscle, the functional property is changed histochemically and enzymologically by the feeding pattern from suckling to aging. However, the mechanism of mitochondria with regulated gene expression in masseter muscle of development is unknown during changed feeding pattern from suckling to mastication. Methods: In this study, the levels of mRNA for enzymatically were measured quantitatively using real-time PCR, Western blot analysis and enzyme activity during postnatal development of mouse masseter from 5 weeks to 7 weeks olds. Results: Mouse masseter muscle mitochondria were used for each assay. NADH-ferricyanide reductase activity and Expression of mRNA for Complex I (ND1, 75K, 51K) was almost constant from 5 weeks olds to 7 weeks olds. In contrast, Expression of mRNA for CAT (catalase), cytochrome C was high at 6 weeks old (p<0.001), and the content of mRNA F1-ATP, mitochondrion-associated apoptosis-inducing factor (Aifm1) encodes a flavoprotein, essential for nuclear disassembly in apoptotic cells was gradually increased (p<0.001). These results may reflect the functional property of masseter by the changes in feeding pattern. Conclusion: These results suggest that changing feeding pattern effect to the mitochondria enzyme in a role in the development of mouse masseter muscle.
