An Assessment of Criteria-Based Measures in Removable Prosthodontics
Objective:Determine whether the criteria-based measures in removable prosthodontics increase the probability of passing the pre-board exercises. Methods:Descriptive method was utilized to assess whether the criteria based measures have a significant effect on the pre-board results conducted among 54 respondents (mean age:24.5) covering the periods between 2002-2004.Results:The findings revealed high mean values on the criteria-based measures for removable partial denture according to choice of major connector (4.53),choice and placement of direct and indirect retainers (4.59),proper dimension of proximal plate (4.53), placement of minor connector (4.64) and accomplishment of authorization form (4.56) indicating that the majority of the respondents strongly agreed. Likewise, high mean values obtained on the criteria-based measures for complete denture according to impression (4.66), construction of study cast (4.5), construction of master cast (4.6), establishment of vertical dimension (4.5), registration of centric relation (4.5), artificial tooth arrangement (4.56),and try-in (4.59) also indicated that majority of the respondents strongly agreed. The comparison between perceived criteria-based measures in partial denture to complete denture did not show any significant difference (p=.75>.05).Conclusion:The criteria based measures were perceived to have a significant effect on the pre-board results in removable prosthodontics.
