Bond strength of denture base acrylic resin and soft-tissue relining
Objectives: The aim of this study was to evaluate the effect of disinfection and surface treatment on bond strength of denture base acrylic resin (Acron-CG América) and soft tissue relining (Kooliner-CG América) interface, by means of a tensile strength essay. Methods: Thirty two acrylic resin specimens were confectioned with 60mmx10mm. The specimens were sectioned in the inner part and 2.5mm was removed from each half. The surface treatment (ST) was treated with a crosslink agent such as VITACOOL (VITA Zahnfabrik, Germany). The microwave was used for 6min at 650W in order to disinfect the resins specimens. The specimens were aleatory divided into four groups: G1-ST/without disinfection, G2-ST/with disinfection, G3-without ST/without disinfection, G4: without ST/with disinfection. Tensile strength (15mm/min) was evaluated using a Universal Test Machine (EMIC). The mean and standard deviation obtained were: G1 (59.59±18.32); G2 (62.13±22.28); G3(42.41±14.74); G4(52.34±19.35). Results: The data obtained were analyzed by ANOVA (p<0,05) and Tukey test, and statistical difference was no observed between experimental conditions. Conclusions: We conclude that in the methodology employed, neither surface treatment nor disinfection process affect the bond strength between acrylic resins and relining.
