Characteristics of a New 1-Step Dual-Cured Bond System "DCB-100"

A new 1-step self-etching bond system "DCB-100" (Kuraray Medical Inc.) has recently been developed. "DCB-100" is a dual-cured bond system, which consists of 2 components, liquid A and liquid B. Liquid A is comprised of an adhesive phosphate monomer (MDP), methacrylate monomers, initiators and nano-filler. Liquid B is comprised of water, ethanol and initiators. Objectives: The purpose of this study was to compare the adhesive properties to tooth structures of "DCB-100" with those of LINER BOND 2V (Kuraray Medical Inc.) and other dual-cured bond systems.  Methods: Bovine dentin surfaces were treated with "DCB-100", air-dried, and cured with a halogen light (JETLITE3000/J.Morita). Then dual-cured composite-resin CLEARFIL DC CORE AUTOMIX (Kuraray Medical Inc.) was applied. Other core buid-up systems were treated according to each manufacturer's instruction, respectively. All samples were stored in 37˚C water for 24 hours prior to performing the tensile bond strength tests.  Results: Table 1 showed the tensile bond strength of each adhesive. "DCB-100" showed similar in bond strength to LINER BOND 2V and superior one to other dual-cured bond systems in this study.
