Study of Newly Developed Visible Light Reactive TiO2 Bleaching Agent

Objective:New bleaching agent (MGC-01) containing TiO2 and 3.5% H2O2 with visible light reactive was developed. It has clinical high safety to oral soft tissue compared with usual bleaching agent containing high concentration of H2O2. The purpose of this study was to evaluate the clinical performance of bleaching and influence to enamel surface of the newly developed bleaching agent. Methods:The bleaching procedure was applied to 61 volunteer patients four times interval a week. The bleaching effect was determined to calculate the color difference comparing with pre- and post-operation, and 6 months examinations using a colorimeter. Influence of the bleaching agent to enamel surface was evaluated to observe with SEM, also measured surface roughness and surface free energies using bovine enamel. Results:In clinical evaluation, bleaching effect of MGC-01 was recognized for discolored vital teeth during the bleaching period, however the postoperative evaluation was showed tendency diminishing the effect. SEM observation was showed that enamel surface of MGC treated group was more smooth than control group(non-treated) . Surface roughness was no significant different between treatment group and control group. Surface free energy of treated group was higher than control group. Conclusions:MGC-01 was showed bleaching effect to vital discolored teeth, clinically. The bleaching agent was suggested that enamel surface was improved more smoothly.
