Objectives: Bonding one-step adhesive Reactmer Bond (RB, Shofu Inc.) to dentin was previously reported (IADR 2001). To date, a new fluoride-releasing all-in-one adhesive `IB-551` was newly developed. The aim of this study was to investigate the effects of IB-551 on adhesion and fluoride release, together with RB.
Materials and Methods: Adhesives/restoratives used were IB-551/BEAUTIFIL (BF), RB/Reactmer Paste (RP) and RB/ BF (all materials from Shofu Inc.), and were adhered to bovine enamel and/or dentin. Shear bond strength (SBS) was measured after 0 to 2,000 thermal cycles in water. Adhesive used was placed in a mold and visible light was irradiated. The specimen was immersed in distilled water for 8 weeks. After removing the specimen, concentration of fluoride ion was measured using an ion electrode.
Results: Statistical analysis (ANOVA) indicated that SBSs to dentin were not significantly different between IB-551 and RB, but SBSs to enamel of IB-551 showed significantly higher than that of RB (P<0.05). Cumulative fluoride release of IB-551 (70.1 μg/cm
2 ) showed significantly higher than that of RB (43.8 μg/cm
2 ) (P<0.05).

Conclusions: It was suggested that IB-551 showed good bonding durability to both enamel and dentin after 2000 cycles, and also exhibited excellent amount of fluoride release like glass-ionomers.
