Comparison of Decrowding Efficacy in Mandibular Anterior Using Black Ti and NiTi
Objectives: The aim of the study is to clinically evaluate and compare the efficiency of NiTi and bkack Ti wire during initial levelling and aligning of crowded lower anteriors. Methods: The present study is to clinically evaluate and compare the decrowding efficiency between two different initial arch wire ,black Ti and super elastic NiTi . The sample consist of two group with 10 patients each . participants with little's irregularity index value to 4 or above were chisen for study .pre tratment intra oral occlusal photographs and impression with irreversable hydrocolloid material was taken and they were strapped up with 0.22MBT slot prescription brackets. the wires were placed in the lower arch and attached using electromeric modules or steel ligatures. the patient was reviewed every month untill the crowding is alleviated Results: the mean for little's irregularity index between convention NiTi and Black Ti were 10.7+3.88 and 8.7 + 3.29 respectivily .independent T test showed that the comparison was not to be satistically significant . the average number of days taken by super elastic NiTi to decrowd the mandibular teeth is 72.70 days while black Ti took 83.80 days to decrowd . As the observed p value is 0.358 is greater than 0.05 (5%),independent T test showed that the comparison of super elastic NiTi and Black Ti group decrowding was found to be not statistically significant . Conclusions: There is no difference in the decrowding effeciency between superelastic NiTi and Black Ti in mandiblular anterior crowding
