Bond Strengths of Cements to a New Pressable Ceramics

Objectives: The aim of this study was to evaluate the bond strengths of three luting agents to pressable lithium disilicate glass ceramics.
Methods: Three luting agents were used for this study;
1) RelyX Ultimate / Scotchbond Universal Etchant and Scotchbond Universal Adhesive (3M ESPE)
2) Panavia V5 / K-ETCHANT Syringe and Clearfil Ceramic Primer Plus (Kuraray Noritake Dental)
3) G-CEM LinkForce / GC ETCHANT and G-Multi PRIMER (GC)
The surfaces of twenty-four specimens made of a newly developed pressable lithium disilicate glass ceramics (Initial LiSi Press, GC) were ground flat with #600-grid SiC paper. Then they were divided into three groups of eight each. Stainless steel rods were bonded to the specimens’ surfaces using one of the three cements. The tensile bond strengths were tested after 24h water storage (37°C) using universal testing machine. These specimens were fractured under the tension at a crosshead speed of 1 mm/min, and the maximum load at the fracture was recorded. Average fracture loads were compared with one-way ANOVA and Dunnett T3 (p<0.05).
Results: The results are presented in the table below. The bond strengths of Panavia V5 and G-Cem LinkForce were significantly higher than RelyX Ultimate (p<0.05).
Conclusions: In this study, Panavia V5 and G-Cem LinkForce were useful for the adhesion to a new pressable ceramics.
