Hypoxia Induced by Nasal Obstraction Natural Killer Cell Activity
Objectives: An upper respiratory tract obstruction due to nasopharyngeal diseases such as allergic rhinitis and tonsillar hypertrophy/sinusitis in growing children inhibits normal nasal breathing and leads to oral breathing. One symptom of this phenomenon appearing in the living body is hypoxia. Typically, it is rare for hypoxia associated with an upper respiratory obstruction to become severe and cause dyspnea, and it generally causes hypoxia. However, reports on the effects of hypoxia in the living body there are not many. Therefore, hypoxia was performed to investigate the effect on immune function, we studied expression of a molecule CD314 + (NKG2D) showing the NK cell activity and NK cell ratio (CD3-/CD161+) with hypoxic rats. Methods: The 5-week-old male Wistar rats were used. Set the oxygen concentration in the chamber to 18% to reproduce the hypoxia, it was produced mild hypoxic rats. In experimental period is 1, 3, 7 days, removing the spleen for changes in NK cell ratio and NK cell activity were analyzed using a flow cytometer. Results: Significant difference in body weight in 1 and 3 days by comparing the control group and hypoxia group was observed, but there were no significant differences at 7 days. Hypoxia group compared with control group NK cell activity was significantly reduced in 3, 7 days. In addition, the NK cell ratio of the all Hypoxia group was significantly lower than the control group. Conclusions: The finding of the present study therefore suggest that hypoxia decreases the immune function of rats via the decreasing of NK cell ratio and NK cell activity.
