Oral Attention Needs Associated to Risks Factors on Liver Transplant-Patient

Objectives: To determine the prevalence of caries and identify the risk factors associated with oral attention needs of liver transplant patients.
Methods: Observational and descriptive study of 30 cases of liver transplant patients from Hospital Universitario based on examination of risk factors and epidemiological evidence of prevalence of caries(CPOD) oral attention needs (Vigil) of prothesis (NP) periodontal treatment (CPITN) with statistical evaluation of 95% accuracy using the SPSS program.
Results: 80% of trans plant patients are older than 50 year and 63% due to cirrosis. 77% has dental services and only 10% always visits a dentist, 37% regularly visitsand 53% occasionally and when they do, 83% go for inspection and cleaning, 17% due to pain.

The average of CPOD was 15 with a total of 448 pieces, 49 carious, 253 lost, 146 obturated and 392 healthy. 63% requires partial dentures and only 10% complete dentures. 100% does not require periodontal treatment, only higiene and preventive measures and supragingival scaling.
Conclusions: Respondents showed good results of oral health due to being a requirement to be a transplant patient, 8 dental pieces were removed from CPOD of 15 pieces being the average, which brought as a consecuence the need of dental prothesis not included on the dental service, being this the major risk factor by inadequate food chewing.
