Dementia Schema for Dental Decision-making

Objectives: Dementia is a brain disease that gradually reduces an individual’s ability to function daily, classifying individuals as functionally dependent. Thus, many of these individuals are institutionalized. The objective of this study is to construct a schema for which to store information regarding dementia.
Methods: Neo4j graph principles were used in developing the schema. The schema transversal was made to later vest node to node relationships with edge probabilities. Each node to node transversals were mapped to their clinical termini outcomes.
Results: The major node, Dementia transversal included 10 subnodes representing the subcategory diseases of dementia. The children node transversals included attribute and knowledge nodes. The nodes that were evidenced segregated knowledge into disease factors, signs, symptoms, and outcomes that were generalized. In other words, the segregation of markers and measures from specific tests were not included at this point. Thus, the schema transversal quantified and qualified outcomes transversals who termini remained undisclosed. A total of 94 nodes were mapped that ended in 98 termini outcomes. Gaps in attribute, knowledge, and outcome nodes was evidenced for further research. While clinical outcome termini were identified, these outcomes needed further elaboration to the most end termini. In all, 202 nodes were mapped.
Conclusions: Mapping of the disease dementia revealed current knowledge and identified gaps in that knowledge for further research. The schema is extensive, however, further research is needed to add edge probabilities to known node to node relationships.
