Shear Bond Strength of Self-adhesive Resin Cements

Objectives: The objective of this study was to test the shear bond strength of dual-cured, self-adhesive resin cements using Bisco’s novel calcium-releasing, self-adhesive cement TheraCem.
Methods: Shear bond strength was measured on a wide range of substrates using Bisco’s TheraCem and 3M ESPE’s Rely X Unicem 2. Shear bond strength was measured using the Ultradent jig method for all substrates. Cement was self-cured for 20 minutes/37°C and stored in di water/37°C for 24 hours prior to shear breaking.
Results: Results are shown in Table 1. Means with different letter (a, b) in the same row are statistically different (p < 0.05)
Conclusions: Bisco’s TheraCem has higher or comparable shear bond strength to Unicem 2 on all substrates tested.
