Evaluation and Comparison of Fracture Resistance Between Hand Layered Zirconia and CAD ON Crowns
Objectives: The objective of this in vitro study was to evaluate and compare the fracture resistance of hand layered zirconia crowns and CAD-ON crowns (Lithium disilicate with zirconium oxide). Methods: Fracture resistance of hand layered zirconia crowns (n=10) and CAD-ON crowns (n=10) (lithium disilicate with zirconium oxide) was evaluated using Universal Testing Machine and compared. The data was statistically analyzed with an independent t test. Results: The statistical analysis of the results performed using independent sample t test showed that the mean fracture resistance for CAD ON crowns was 2660.50 N ± 501.303 (P < 0.05 independent sample t test) while for zirconia crowns the mean fracture resistance was 1963.60N ± 452.89 (P < 0.05 independent sample t test). Conclusions: CAD ON crowns were found to have significantly higher fracture resistance than hand layered zirconia crowns.
