Objectives: To find the effect of Nano calcium taken from the crab shells combined with Nano chitosan taken from the exoskeletons of insects, towards hardness and homogeneity hardness teeth value. Methods: The Post Test randomized controlled group design is used as research methodology; the objects were divided into three groups with each groups consisting of 6 rats. The first group is the control group, the second group is the group of Nano calcium without Nano chitosan, and the third group is the group of Nano calcium combined with Nano chitosan, given during the rats’ pregnancy. Results: On the newborn rats’ tooth, tooth hardness testing was done on day-30, using a Vickers hardness testing (Vickers Buehler Micro Hardness Tester MMT-1). The average yield of the rat tooth hardness of the first group was 19.7 HV. The deviation differences were 3.5 HV. The average yield of the rat tooth hardness of the second group was 48 HV. The deviation differences were 27 HV. These results indicate there was an increase of hardness towards the control group by 144%. The average yield of the rat tooth hardness of the third group was 56 HV. These results indicate there was an increase of hardness toward the control group by 184%. The deviation differences were 1.7 HV. Conclusions: Based on statistical analysis, Nano calcium has the ability to increase the hardness of the tooth; while Nano calcium combined with Nano chitosan have greater ability to increase hardness and homogeneity hardness teeth value indicated by the low standard deviation.
