The Morphologic and Architectural Characteristics of Adenocarcinoma, NOS in the Salivary Glands
Objectives: As designated name, Adenocarcinoma Not Otherwise Specific(ANOS) reveled lack of characteristics on histomorpologic features compared with other salivary tumor.The purpose of this study is to find out the solid characteristics of ANOS on the base of cytological and architecture features. Methods: Data collected from 2004 to 2014 in department of Oral Pathology at the Seoul National University Dental Hospital. 23 ANOS, 17 PA, ACC 23, EMC 5 on salivary gland tumors were studied. For the histopathological analysis, we classified the tumors by cytological and architecture. patterns. Results: 23 ANOS' cytologic and archtecture features were basaloid and epitheloid with solid, microcystic/psedocystic patterns. 17 PA were in the basaloid and microcystic/pseudocystic. 23 ACC were in the basaloid and cribriform mixed with tubular. 5 ECM were in the basaloid and microcystic/pseudocystic form. Conclusions: In this study, We reviewed cytologic and archtecture of ANOS and we found their gorwth patter was invasive. Often times, it is difficullt to diagnosis of ANOS because not obscure chracteristics. Reviewing and classifying the common features of ANOS could help to make an difficult diagnosis of ANOS.
