Assesing Risk Level of Dental Caries Using “CAMBRA”
Objectives: 1. To evaluate risk of caries using CAMBRA in a specific population. 2. To determine whether ADA Caries Risk Assessment form (CAMBRA) is applicable in our society or not. Methods: Dental students under the guidance of 2 calibrated and trained dentists went to Delhi Colony at certain Welfare Association, Karachi. It was a cross sectional study in which 221 individuals were assessed, 172 were above age 6 and 49 were below age 6. They were examined and responses were obtained by using validated questionnaire of CAMBRA. The data was analyzed manually. Results: 1. The overall risk of dental caries in the population we visited was moderate. 2. The CAMBRA form was helpful to determine the risk factors of dental caries. But it should be modified as it lacked certain variables and could not be used in a community like the one we visited. Conclusions: The result shows that the people in the area we visited are at moderate Risk of dental caries. Therefore future preventive programs should be implemented for this particular society.
