Dental amalgam incorporated Heavily filled nano hybrid composite production and comparison
Objectives: To prepare and compare the heavily filled nano composite produced by incorporating a commercially available dental amalgam alloy powder by mechanical mixing with commercially available nano filled hybrid composite. Methods: specimens were prepared from a nano hybrid composite material (control) and a heavily filled nano hybrid composite incorporated with dental amalgam alloy powder (experimental). Dental amalgam powder was mixed mechanically through an amalgamator in a ratio of 20/80 of dental amalgam powder in a bonding agent. Then 0.10mg in to 1g of nano filled hybrid composite. Total specimens analyzed were six (n=3) for each group. Specimens were prepared and analyzed according to ISO standard no. 4049. Results: Showed a marked difference in the values of flexural strength of both the materials. Flexural strength of specimens in control group was 90 Mpa while for the experimental group was 106.12 Mpa. Paired sample two sided T test was applied for statistical analysis which provides a value of 0.023 which was lower than p value (0.05) selected for the study. Conclusions: there is a significant difference in nano hybrid composite and heavily filled nano hybrid composite when compared on the basis of flexural strength.
