Methods: To the citotoxicity test, were used the following CS essential oil concentrations (µg/ml): 400 (G1); 300 (G2); 200 (G3); 100 (G4), even as the controls: solvent (0,05% of Tween20 + 0,05% of DMSO) (G5- negative control); and chlorhexidine (CHX) 0,12% (positive control). After 30 minutes of contact between the solutions and the cells, they were immersed in a dye MTT (3-(4,5dimethyl thiazole-2yl)-2,5diphenyl tetrazolium bromide) for 4 hours, and then, it was made the reading through the microplates lector. The measure of the viable cells were submitted to ANOVA and Tukey (p<0.01).
Results: Statistically significant difference was found between the different oil concentrations. Thus, the toxicity was (% of viable cells): G6(39.9)
